Traumatic Dental Injuries
Teeth can suffer physical damage from all types of trauma. Some traumatic dental injuries may result in a tooth being pushed back into its socket while others may result in a tooth completely dislodging from its socket.
A dislodged tooth often requires root canal treatment. If the tooth is partially shifted out of its socket, an endodontist can stabilize it, but a root canal may still be required if the pulp sustained damage.
If you or a loved one suffer any type of traumatic injury that results in a tooth being completely knocked out of its socket, this requires immediate endodontic treatment. It is possible to save the tooth as long as it remains moistened with mildly salty water or milk and the patient receives treatment promptly.
